BioGreetings.
There is a saying of mine, one of several, that goes as follows: There are three things in life that provide the most satisfaction: the first is creation, the second is discovery, and the third is sharing the first two with someone else. I like to think that this medium is a good place to do the last of them, and I hope those reading my journal get something more out of it than a vicarious high from the glimpse into the minutiae of my existence. To tell the truth it's not really all that entertaining, at least on the outside. However I may occasionally reveal snippets of the philosophical domain over which I preside, and that's where the meat is.
For now I'll tell you that I appear to most of the world as a highly intelligent and creative male of Scandinavian descent who probably thinks a bit too much of himself. I come from a thoroughly blue-collar neighborhood on the East Side of St. Paul and have a relatively large family, being the second of seven children. I was raised Lutheran, but about halfway through high school became thoroughly disillusioned with it and decided to essentially create my own belief system. The system itself grew out of a book project which I am still working on.
I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, receiving a B.A. in political science in May 2002. From February 2003 to July 2008 I worked at Ameriprise Financial in various capacities to pay the bills. Currently, I am a full-time graduate student at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs in their Masters of Public Policy program, on track to get my degree in May 2010.

sassymngal. We met online early in 2006, and after an initial few months in long distance mode, in person that June. We were married in August of 2008, and in late July of 2009 we welcomed our first child, Liam Oran into the world. Overall, I think I've done pretty well so far, but continue to be mindful of the relative amount of privilege I enjoy and do what I can to improve the lot of others.
